Apollo Visual Oil Level Monitor / Gauge

Check your oil from the comfort of your home with the Apollo Visual. This wireless ultrasonic monitor shows your tank level on a receiver indoors and on a screen at the tank itself. It builds on the original Apollo tank contents gauge by adding a display on the tank-mounted transmitter. Your fuel supplier can then watch the level before, during, and after a delivery, which helps prevent overfilling.

The Apollo Visual has no probes, floats, or moving parts and doesn’t need any wiring. It fits most plastic and steel tanks up to 3 m tall; it’s quick to install, and it gives reliable readings for years.

How It Works

The Apollo Visual has two parts: a transmitter that fits on top of your tank and a receiver that plugs into a standard household socket.

  1. Measure: The transmitter sends ultrasonic pulses down onto the liquid and measures how long the echo takes to return. From that, it works out the level in the tank.
  2. Display at the tank: The level appears on the transmitter’s own LCD screen, so the delivery driver can check it during refuelling.
  3. Transmit: The reading is sent by radio to the receiver indoors, up to 200 m away with a clear line of sight.
  4. Alert: The receiver shows the level as a simple bar display. If the oil runs low, it gives a visual warning and an optional audible alarm, so you can reorder in good time.

Features and Benefits

  • Local and remote reading: check the level at the tank or from inside, without walking out in bad weather.
  • Helps prevent overfilling: the screen at the tank gives delivery drivers a clear reading while they fill.
  • Low-level warning: a visual and audible alarm tells you before you run out.
  • No contact with the fuel: ultrasonic measurement means no floats, probes, or immersed sensors to wear out or fail.
  • Easy DIY installation: no specialist tools or wiring needed. Most installs take minutes.
  • Simple calibration: set your tank height on the receiver, and you’re ready to go.
  • Long battery life: the lithium transmitter battery lasts an estimated 7–10 years.
  • Wide compatibility: fits most plastic and steel tanks up to 3 m tall, whatever the make or capacity.
  • Long wireless range: works up to 200 m away with a clear line of sight.
  • Robust, sealed transmitter: built for outdoor use on the tank.
  • Apollo RMS compatible: can work with Apollo depot-based remote monitoring systems.

Delivery Terms

The delivery of a tank can be confusing as each manufacturer offers a slightly different service and lead time. Please refer to our Delivery Information page. Standard tank deliveries are "kerbside", which means the tank will be delivered to the kerb only and not positioned further. Should you have specific delivery requirements or restrictions, please contact us to discuss.

Tanks over 2,500L — articulated lorry, customer offload

These tanks are delivered on an articulated vehicle (approximately 16.5m long × 2.6m wide × 3m high) which has no offloading on board. It is the customer's responsibility to offload the tank, which may require a telehandler or forklift.

Curtain-sided vehicles are also used, so please note that if there are obstacles or overhanging branches on the road to the delivery site, the driver may refuse to drive to the location due to the risk of damaging the vehicle. Please let us know about any obstructions before delivery so we can arrange alternative transport.

18-tonne tail-lift HGV

This vehicle is roughly the size of the largest bin lorries — approximately 8.2m long × 2.6m wide × 4m high, and often curtain-sided. If there are overhanging branches, these vehicles will not attempt the route, so a smaller vehicle should be requested.

Tanks are lowered to the ground but not positioned, as this is a kerbside delivery. If a smaller vehicle is required, email sales@fueltankshop.co.uk quoting your order number and name.

HIAB delivery

HIAB delivery is available but must be requested, and carries an additional cost. Email sales@fueltankshop.co.uk quoting your order number and name, and we'll come back to you with a price.

Accessories

Most accessories are delivered within 1–3 working days. Certain products and postcodes may take longer — check the product page for current information. If you need them sooner we can sometimes offer a next-day service; please contact us to discuss. If an item is out of stock we'll advise the expected lead time, and you're free to cancel for a full refund.

Returns Information

Customers may return items within 14 calendar days, as set out in section 7 of our Terms & Conditions.

All items must be returned unused. Refunds cannot be issued for used or previously installed items.

Please be aware that returning a tank can be complicated and expensive, so do check you're ordering the correct item — we strongly suggest checking the dimensions carefully before you buy.

How to return an item

  • Complete the form on our returns page with details of your order.
  • Once your request is approved, we'll issue a Returns Authorisation Number (RAN) along with instructions on how and where to return your order, and any costs involved.
