Delivery

Delivery

Check your access before you order.

Every tank manufacturer runs a slightly different service and lead time, and the vehicle that turns up depends on the tank you buy. Most delivery problems are access problems — so here is exactly what arrives, what it can and cannot do, and what we need to know from you first.

Standard tank delivery is kerbside. The tank is lowered to the ground at the nearest safe point the vehicle can reach. Moving it into final position is the responsibility of the customer or installer.

What turns up

Know the vehicle before delivery day.

Measure your access against these before you order. If the road, gateway or yard cannot take the vehicle, tell us and we will source an alternative where possible.

Articulated lorry

Tanks over 2,500 litres

Length16.5m
Width2.6m
Height3m
  • No offloading equipment on board
  • You offload — telehandler or forklift
  • Often curtain sided

18 tonne tail lift HGV

Most tanks up to 2,500 litres

Length8.2m
Width2.6m
Height4m
  • Tail lift lowers the tank to the ground
  • Roughly the size of the largest bin lorry
  • Often curtain sided

Smaller vehicle

By arrangement

If neither of the above can reach you — narrow lanes, low branches, tight yard — request a smaller vehicle before despatch.

Email sales@fueltankshop.co.uk quoting your order number and name.

Curtain sided vehicles are easily damaged. If there are overhanging branches or other obstructions on the approach, the driver may refuse to drive to your location. Tell us about obstructions in advance and we will arrange alternative transport.

Offload options

How the tank gets off the lorry.

  • Tail lift

    No extra cost

Available on most tanks up to 2,500 litres. The tank is lowered to the ground, not positioned.

  • HIAB

    Chargeable

Crane offload, available on steel tanks and Deso and Titan tanks. Ask us for a price before you order.

  • Customer offload

    Plant required

Standard on tanks over 2,500 litres. You will need a telehandler or forklift and someone competent to operate it.

Before you order

Tell us if any of these apply.

Thirty seconds on the phone now saves a failed delivery later. Any of these and we will look at alternative transport.

  • An articulated lorry cannot reach the address
  • You cannot offload a tank over 2,500 litres
  • Overhanging branches or obstructions on the approach
  • Narrow lanes, weight limits or a tight turning circle
  • The delivery point is not the same as the billing address

Lead times are set by each manufacturer and shown on the product page. Our sales team will talk you through the options for the tank you are looking at.

  • 48 hour delivery means working days — weekends are not included
  • Order cut-off times are shown on the listing pages
  • Some tanks are held in Minehead for quicker despatch

Lead times

Accessories

Most accessories arrive within 1–3 working days. We can sometimes offer next day — call us to check before you order.

  • Out of stock items: we tell you the expected lead time
  • You can cancel at that point for a full refund
  • Next day available on some items, subject to cut-off

Where we deliver

Nationwide, with two exceptions.

Tanks

UK mainland only. We cannot deliver tanks to the Scottish Islands, Channel Islands or Isle of Man — but we will happily deliver to a forwarding agent for you.

Accessories

Delivered nationwide, and internationally on request. Scottish Islands, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man may incur additional postage — ask us for a price.

Please note

Do not book your installer against a delivery date.

We make every effort to deliver on the expected date, and we pass on whatever the manufacturer and their haulier tell us as soon as we have it. But dates can move for reasons outside our control, so we cannot accept charges or compensation claims arising from late or failed deliveries.

Wait until the tank is on site before booking an engineer or a fuel delivery. It is the single most common cause of an expensive wasted visit.

Not sure?

Send us a postcode. We will tell you what can get there.

Mon–Fri, 7:30–17:00. Quicker than guessing, and far cheaper than a refused delivery.
