FTS2250 2250 Litre Bunded Heating Oil Tank

Product Overview

The FTS2250BT 2250 Litre Bunded Oil Tank is a robust, double-skinned polyethylene storage tank designed for the safe storage of heating oil, kerosene, diesel, HVO and other suitable fuels. With a nominal 2,250 litre capacity and a maximum stated capacity of 2,153 litres, it provides a high-capacity fuel storage solution for domestic, agricultural and industrial applications.

Manufactured from high-grade polyethylene, the FTS2250BT is corrosion resistant, has high impact strength and is UV stabilised. Its double-skinned construction provides an outer bund around the primary storage tank, helping to contain fuel in the event of a leak or spill.

Bunded Double-Skin Construction

The FTS2250BT uses a tank-within-a-tank design. The inner tank acts as the primary fuel storage vessel, while the outer tank provides secondary containment.

In the event of a leak or spill from the inner tank, the outer bund is designed to contain the surplus fuel. This provides an additional layer of protection around the stored fuel and helps prevent fuel from escaping beyond the tank itself.

High-Grade Polyethylene Construction

The FTS2250BT is manufactured from high-grade polyethylene and is British made. The material is designed to provide corrosion resistance, high impact strength and UV stabilisation, making the tank suitable for outdoor fuel storage applications.

The current FTS range documentation also identifies the tanks as UKCA/CE marked, UV stabilised and corrosion resistant, with a 10-year tank-only guarantee stated for the FTS range.

Applications

The FTS2250BT is designed for applications where a larger-capacity bunded fuel tank is required.

Typical applications include:

  • Domestic heating oil storage
  • Agricultural fuel storage
  • Farms
  • Commercial premises
  • Industrial sites
  • Workshops and depots
  • Diesel storage
  • Heating oil and kerosene storage
  • HVO storage

The 2,250 litre nominal size provides increased fuel storage capacity for sites with higher fuel requirements, while the double-skinned construction provides secondary containment.

Delivery

The FTS2250BT is delivered on a standard kerbside basis, meaning the tank is delivered to the kerb and is not positioned further into the property.

The current delivery information states that standard tank deliveries are kerbside and that customers should contact Fuel Tank Shop if they have specific delivery requirements or restrictions. HIAB delivery is available by request at an additional cost.

Customers should ensure that suitable vehicle access is available and that the installation area and base are prepared before delivery.

Estimated Leadtime is 2 - 3 Working Days. (Scottish highland postcodes may experience longer lead times)

The delivery of a tank can be confusing as each manufacturer offers a slightly different service and lead time. Please refer to our Delivery Information page. Standard tank deliveries are "kerbside", which means the tank will be delivered to the kerb only and not positioned further. Should you have specific delivery requirements or restrictions, please contact us to discuss.

Tanks over 2,500L — articulated lorry, customer offload

These tanks are delivered on an articulated vehicle (approximately 16.5m long × 2.6m wide × 3m high) which has no offloading on board. It is the customer's responsibility to offload the tank, which may require a telehandler or forklift.

Curtain-sided vehicles are also used, so please note that if there are obstacles or overhanging branches on the road to the delivery site, the driver may refuse to drive to the location due to the risk of damaging the vehicle. Please let us know about any obstructions before delivery so we can arrange alternative transport.

18-tonne tail-lift HGV

This vehicle is roughly the size of the largest bin lorries — approximately 8.2m long × 2.6m wide × 4m high, and often curtain-sided. If there are overhanging branches, these vehicles will not attempt the route, so a smaller vehicle should be requested.

Tanks are lowered to the ground but not positioned, as this is a kerbside delivery. If a smaller vehicle is required, email sales@fueltankshop.co.uk quoting your order number and name.

HIAB delivery

HIAB delivery is available but must be requested, and carries an additional cost. Email sales@fueltankshop.co.uk quoting your order number and name, and we'll come back to you with a price.

Accessories

Most accessories are delivered within 1–3 working days. Certain products and postcodes may take longer — check the product page for current information. If you need them sooner we can sometimes offer a next-day service; please contact us to discuss. If an item is out of stock we'll advise the expected lead time, and you're free to cancel for a full refund.

Returns Information

Customers may return items within 14 calendar days, as set out in section 7 of our Terms & Conditions.

All items must be returned unused. Refunds cannot be issued for used or previously installed items.

Please be aware that returning a tank can be complicated and expensive, so do check you're ordering the correct item — we strongly suggest checking the dimensions carefully before you buy.

How to return an item

  • Complete the form on our returns page with details of your order.
  • Once your request is approved, we'll issue a Returns Authorisation Number (RAN) along with instructions on how and where to return your order, and any costs involved.

What is a bunded tank?

A bunded tank consists of a 'tank within a tank'.

The inner tank is the primary storage vessel, whilst the outer tank acts as a failsafe.

In the event of a spill, surplus fuel will safely and securely be stored within the outer tank and an environmental pollution incident will be averted.

Installation requirements

This Oil Tank must be installed and maintained in accordance to the current OFTEC guidelines, by an OFTEC Registered Technician or similarly competent person.

Fuel Tank Shop and the manufacturer will not be responsible for oil tank installations which do not comply with these requirements.

OFTEC Base Construction Guidelines (in brief):

  • Adequate for the weight of the tank when full
  • Non-combustible, imperforate and level
  • Constructed of concrete, paving stones or stonework
  • Large enough to extend 300mm beyond ALL sides of the tanks
